As little girls we were fascinated by the style of our grandparents, aunties and cousins, for they exposed us to a side of beauty that was fun and daring all through the things that they wore. We come from a family where glasses are worn pretty much by everyone. Prescriptive, non prescriptive, sun glasses, you name it. In fact our mother owns probably over 100 pairs of shades. We are talking all kinds of frames! That’s what made their style admirable.
And although we were never told we needed glasses, the obsession came from us loving the look and the way wearing them made us feel. Cool, indeed with an ounce of innocence and professionalism. So fast forwarding to our adult years, that feeling still remains and we’ve added our own twist on the everlasting trend. We’ve tossed out the typical black frames and replaced them with specs that have funky shapes and cool colors. Not to mention that these babies add the perfect touch to any look and can mislead folks into thinking you are apart of the “Four- Eyed Committee”!
When shopping for your new glasses, be sure to pick out colors that work well with your skin and hair tone. The style of your frames should compliment the shape of your face. Those who have round faces should go for glasses that are strongly detailed and wider than tall lenses. For oval shaped faces, bold shapes and textured frames work perfectly. And if your face has angular features than you may want to look for round and thinner frames. Not to forget about our heart shaped faces; it's best you stick with frames that are wider than the forehead. It's just better that way!
